Technik logistyk za granicą

In September group of 16 students from Chojnice came to Sevilla to carry out an internship in the logistic sector as a ports and terminals services operators. During the internship trainees could improve the skills from their specialisation which would be helpful in the future career. It was a great chance to integrate their group, but also to make new friends from another country.

All students had their practices all together in an internal seaport located in Seville on the estuary of the Guadalquivir river. Its basic function is to serve as a boat lift from the Eurovía Guadalquivir to the commercial dock in Seville and vice versa. During the internship students were getting a variety of tasks, main of which included: managing the movements of shipping containers in ports and terminals, monitoring different forms of exploitation of ships, participating in multimodal transportation and in the logistic process and custom management, supporting some port operations: loading, unloading, storage.

Apart from their practices, they also had a possibility to visit another Andalusian city: Cordoba. The city was conquered by Muslim armies in the eighth century, and became the capital of the Islamic Emirate and then Caliphate of Córdoba, including most of the Iberian Peninsula. During the trip, the trainees visited The Great Mosque of Córdoba which is a UNESCO World Heritage. Furthermore, they also visited the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs, The Calahorra Tower which now hosts a museum of three cultures and The Roman Bridge of Córdoba which was built in early 1st century BC.

Students also visited the Museum of the Port of Seville. The museum is dedicated to the most remote origins of the Port of Seville, those in which the Port began to be transformed into an independent space. After the visit in Museum, the group was taken to the terminal of the port of Seville. There, students can learn about all the logistic services given in the port and see how the port machinery works. Moreover, they can see the daily work in the port and ask the workers questions. At the end, the group crosses the drawbridge of Seville and took a close look on how it works.

The internship has not only been a time to develop knowledge of the sector but also to learn Spanish, get to know a completely different culture, make new friends and develop interpersonal skills. We hope that all of this will be an unforgettable memory for our interns and that in the future they will be able to take advantage of everything they have learned during their stay.
